Rio Ready (Rio de Janeiro)

Hair is the 'mane' thang!

Like any person, place or thing, there is always something to love and not love. I'll start with the not love since it'll be quick because negativity does not get my focus.  The drivers - ugh, they are the worse I've ever experienced in any country. Not the traffic, but the drivers. They show absolutely no courtesy or do any yielding for pedestrians. Period. I've never experienced anything of the sort in all my travels. One local said it's because they're not taught how to drive, they just learn on their own.

.

OK, now to what I love about Brazil. Surprisingly, to I'm sure all who know me, it's not the food (and I did enjoy my @eatrio tour) or the beaches (as pristine as they are). It's the hair! Yep, the beautiful mane of the local Black Brazilians is a thing of beauty (the pic says what I can't even begin to put into words). I felt so right at home as I witnessed all types of natural coifs.  Next to the remarkable tresses you see in this pic, there were so many jaw-dropping afros on display. Those really inspired me, as I'm on the journey to finally let my hair grow out. My current 'fro is the result of no barber shop visits for 5 months! That's a lifetime for me, Lol. I'm so stoked now to see my starter-kit 'fro grow into its own and I will let it do what it naturally wants to do. So, thank you Rio for giving me the motivation to stay out of the barber's chair and continue to caress my tresses and not tame the mane! Who knew this is what I would blog about after my vacay!!
